The BC Association of Chiefs of Police Strategic Plan is more than a roadmap – it is our commitment to supporting police leaders, advancing public safety, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring the Association remains responsive, accountable, and sustainable.
Guided by four strategic goals, the Plan establishes the priorities that will shape our work from 2026–2029.
Every initiative we undertake is aligned with these goals, ensuring our efforts deliver meaningful value to our members, partners, and the communities they serve.
Goal 1: Relevant Professional Development
Preparing police leaders for today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities.
Policing is changing rapidly. Police leaders are navigating increasingly complex public safety challenges, evolving community expectations, technological advances, and growing demands on their organizations. To lead effectively, they need timely learning, practical insights, and opportunities to connect with peers across British Columbia.
We are committed to fostering leadership excellence through relevant, accessible, and forward-looking professional development and high-quality conferences that support police leaders throughout every stage of their careers.
Goal 2: Effective Advocacy for Progressive Change
Championing evidence-informed public safety policy.
Public safety challenges are becoming increasingly complex, requiring thoughtful collaboration between policing, government, community partners, and the justice system. As the voice of police leadership in British Columbia, BCACP has an important role in bringing forward operational expertise, fostering informed dialogue, and advocating for solutions that strengthen community safety.
We are committed to providing trusted, evidence-informed advocacy that influences public policy, supports progressive change, and advances the interests of policing and the communities we serve.
Goal 3: Trusted and Engaged Partners
Building stronger partnerships for safer communities.
The complex challenges facing policing cannot be addressed by any one organization alone. Meaningful progress depends on collaboration among policing, governments, Indigenous communities, health and social service partners, academia, and community organizations. By working together, we can strengthen public confidence, improve outcomes, and create safer communities across British Columbia.
We are committed to fostering trusted partnerships, encouraging meaningful dialogue, and creating opportunities for collaboration that strengthen policing and enhance public trust.
Goal 4: Strengthened Governance
Building a resilient Association for the future.
Strong governance is the foundation of an effective and sustainable organization. To continue serving police leaders across British Columbia, BCACP must remain financially responsible, operationally strong, and accountable to its members. Investing in sound governance today ensures the Association is well positioned to meet future opportunities and challenges.
We are committed to strengthening its governance, financial sustainability, and organizational capacity to ensure long-term success and continued value for our members.
